2022 20th Annual Grand Riv-Har Duck Race

The 20th Annual Grand Riv-Har Duck Race was held on October 8, 2022, at Helen Hazen Wyman Park. Volunteers and board members from the Riverside Alumni Association and the Harvey Alumni Association gathered on a cool day to float nearly 600 numbered, yellow rubber ducks down the Grand River in hopes that it would not take long for the winning ducks to cross the finish line. ​

Sixteen years of effort and over $90,000 raised in funds have established the Grand Riv-Har Duck Race as a respected annual tradition shared by the Riverside and Harvey alumni associations. Although known as long-time rivals in sports, the hatching of the Duck Race idea represents a classic example of how two neighboring school systems can achieve success by working toward the common good. The Grand Riv-Har Duck Race

Often called the “Battle of Painesville,” the Riverside-Harvey football game has become a legend since the two high schools serving Painesville split into two districts more than 65 years ago. Rivalry between the two districts reaches a peak as the date of the game approaches each football season.
