President’s Message

Hello Fellow Beavers, Well, things are starting to feel a little more real. School has started although necessarily modified because of the virus. The school buses are rolling (please respect their signs and be patient, especially with the special needs kids), and our sports teams are playing. Attendance at the events is limited to family members, but fortunately for sports nuts like me, some of the games are being streamed. Check the teams’ Twitter/Facebook pages for links on game days. Of course, our board hasn’t met since March, and all…

President’s Message

Loyal Riverside Alumni, We hope all is well with all of you and that you are taking every precaution as we want to see all of you again when we can start our events back up. Fortunately, here in Lake County the infection rate is quite low and the numbers are pretty flat. But we are still interacting with the school and our graduating seniors. Jaime McIntyre, the Senior Class advisor, asked for our help with two initiatives. The first was supporting the development of congratulatory yard signs for each…

President’s Message

Hello fellow Beavers, We are all hoping that you’re staying safe and healthy. Here in Lake County things are relatively quiet at least for now. But with our board’s average age over 70 we are being very careful. Our last meeting was March 9 just before things got really crazy and yet we all had our sanitizers and wipes and kept a degree of distance. At that time, we hadn’t even considered that the schools would be closing and that everything was shutting down. So, we had our normal discussions…

Hello, Folks. Hope you had a Black and Gold Christmas or Hanukkah, and New Year’s day. Things are quiet on the association front for now. But we had a good 2019 and are looking forward to a fun and active 2020. The Hall of Fame induction ceremony went very well thanks in large part to the efforts of Marijane Watson. From organizing the selection committees to spearheading the selection of the new members and playing the hostess with the mostest, she carries it all out expertly and makes it appear…

Hello Fellow Riversiders! Welcome back to the On-Line Log. It’s been a while since we’ve had a new edition of this, so you will find a lot of new and interesting material. Our website and social media pages have been dormant for a while as we lost our technical resource. But boy, did we get lucky in that department. First a ’68 grad of Riverside, Karen Holp, moved back to town from Oklahoma, of all places. Turns out she has wonderful computer skills, and, with a little nudge from Connie…

President’s Message – Spring/Summer 2018

Hello folks from your new president of the Alumni Association, Tom Trombley. If my name is familiar it could be because I was on the Riverside School Board from 2000-2008. Or, more likely, because of my three children Andy, Val and Tim, who graduated from Riverside in ’04, ’05 and ’08. During my time on the Board we adjusted the name of the district to the Riverside Local Schools, rebuilt the Stadium, helped with the construction and furnishing of the Fieldhouse and sold the County Home to the Lake County…
