Growing Organization Has Growing Needs

As the Riverside Alumni Association continues to grow, so does its need for more people to help with events and functions. We have a couple of immediate needs for volunteers and committee chairs to help with the Hall of Fame and the awarding of Scholarships. You do not have to be on the board of trustees to be a chair of a committee. The Hall of Fame Selection Committee needs some help this year and will need a chairperson in 2019. Veterans Monument Coming to RHS

A group of veterans wants to honor Riverside alumni who have served in our armed forces by erecting a memorial on campus. Each of the five branches of the military will be represented. This project will start with a set of flags between the field house and football stadium. Local organizations and businesses have already donated the flag poles and the flags to be displayed. The rest of the project will still need approximately $7,000 to finish the outside phase of the tribute. The inside component of the proposed memorial…

Lifelong Friends Build Dream House

2007 was a good year for Josh Edgell and Mark Maltry. That year the lifelong friends realized a longtime dream to start up their own home construction and remodeling company. After graduating from the Construction/Remodeling/Repair programs at Auburn Career Center and Riverside High School in 2000, Maltry and Edgell worked for contractors in Lake and Geauga counties. Seven years of experience gave them enough confidence to venture out on their own. That’s when they formed JEMM Construction. 2008 was not a very good year for the housing industry. That year…

Annual Alumni Association Meeting held in February Congratulations to three Riverside alumni who were voted onto the Board of Trustees for the Alumni Association. Two are newcomers and one has been serving as the Board Treasurer for several years. New to the board are James Hido (2003) and Frank Vaccariello (1980). Serving another term is Don Pomfrey (1954). Volunteer Opportunities – Spring 2017

Volunteer opportunities are plentiful during the course of the year. From staffing event booths to needing help with banquets, there’s plenty of work to spread around.
