2023 Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction Ceremony

The 2023 Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction ceremony was held on October 14, 2023 at the Holiday Inn Mentor. The complete biographies of the honorees are found in this edition of the Winter Online Log. Each honoree received a plaque and an honorary lifetime membership in the association. Robert H. More: 2023 Hall of Fame Athlete, Class of 1961

Robert H. More, Class of 1961, was a champion middle-distance runner, undefeated in the 880/half-mile for all but one of his Northeast Conference races (his first.)  He also ran the 440/quarter mile.  He was conference champion in the half-mile for four years.    He was District Champion in his junior and senior years, which qualified him for the state track meet in Columbus, where he was seen by the OSU track coach.  In addition to his four Varsity letters in track, he earned Varsity letters in football (2) and basketball (2).…

Director of the University of California at Irving’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders and Alzheimer’s Research (UCI MIND), Joshua D. A change in his career focus earned W. David Lautenschlager, Class of 1962, great respect on top of stellar achievements in his original accomplishments as a college professor. After earning his BA from Oberlin, followed by his MA at the University of Wisconsin and his PhD at Washington University, he became a college professor at Oberlin, Swarthmore and Kalamazoo teaching German literature. Michaela Hahn Burris: 2023 Hall of Fame Athlete, Class of 2004

An “All American” athlete, Michaela Hahn Burris, Class of 2004, was a champion swimmer, the first swimmer in Riverside history to qualify for the state competition. Captain her junior and senior years, she was also a three-time MVP. She never lost a race to a conference opponent, leading her team to 3 PAC championships, or an individual race in the Sectional Meet. Becky Bartholomew: 2023 Hall of Fame Faculty/Staff, 1993-2019.

Becky Bartholomew was a Physical Education and Health teacher at Riverside from 1993-2019.  Her enthusiasm for teaching and for taking on extracurricular projects opened doors for young people to experience her personal standards as well as to work alongside her in positive ways. Her very first year she agreed to be Junior Class Advisor, which involved organizing the prom, including the funding for it.  She held that position for 10 years.  Her leadership as the National Honor Society advisor enabled her to stress service by its members.  When she retired,…

Class of 2006 graduate Amir Jones is the instrumental music teacher for grades 9 – 12 at Harvey High School. He first was assistant marching band director starting almost 17 years ago and has been the head director for 11 years. He has rebuilt the band to impressive levels and further developed the instrumental music program. His marching bands have garnered respect not only in Lake County but also across the state.
