2022 RHSAA Scholarship Award: Alexis Wade

Alexis Wade has been awarded an RHS Alumni Association Scholarship and plans to attend Ohio State University. She is the daughter of William and Lisa Adams (Class of 1993) Wade. She will major in English and Political Science with a focus on pre-law. She states, “My goal is to go into law so that I can give back to the community and help others.”

Alexis is the oldest of four siblings and has three brothers who all attend Riverside schools. The Wades enjoy an active family life by supporting each other in various athletic and other endeavors.

An extremely engaged student, Alexis combined athletics and many other activities while at RHS. She was a 4-year Varsity Cross Country runner and a 3-year Varsity Track and Field participant. She earned the Athletic Scholar Award each year. She was a football and basketball cheerleader as a freshman and a varsity football cheerleader her junior and senior years.

Influencing her career choice was her enthusiastic participation in Mock Trial, in which she participated as an attorney. Additionally, she gained experience in government by serving on Student Council all four years and was vice president and executive vice president during her senior year. She contributed her time and energy to several other school activities.

Alexis’s senior year was special as she hosted “Recognizing RHS Podcast” and developed a brand for the program. She oversaw the collection of sponsors and donations and developed a plan to pass the podcast down to upcoming student leaders in order to stress “a legacy of inclusivity and positivity.”

“The Tour of Lake County” was a podcast she began as a co-producer. That endeavor involved her visiting local schools in which students could share their accomplishments and show what made their school unique in the community.

With Alexis’s strong leadership experience and willingness to get involved, she will doubtless be an asset to OSU. The RHS Alumni Association wishes her continued success.
