Bill Guyer: Honorary Football Team Captain

Congratulations to our own Bill Guyer, President of the RHSAA, selected to represent the Riverside Beavers football team as their honorary captain at their August 28 home game.

With his wife Donna and sons Tom and Steven (both Riverside graduates) in the stands, Bill took the field for the pre-game ceremony.

From the 1967 yearbook.

Bill is a 1967 graduate of Riverside High School where he was a lettered member of the track team, played on the football team, was a member of Student Council, and vice president of the Key Club. Because Bill received a varsity letter in track, he was also inducted into the Varsity R. After high school, Bill served two years in the United States Army.

Bill is a tireless worker for the Alumni Association and currently serves as president.  He has been instrumental in raising thousands of dollars in scholarships for deserving Riverside students through such events as the Grand Riv-Har Duck Race Fundraiser and the All-Class picnic. He was inducted into the Riverside Alumni Association Hall of Fame in 2015.

Bill also served as president of the Riverside Gridiron Club.

Significantly, Bill served as president of the Riverside Community Athletic Foundation that raised funds to renovate the RHS football field and construct a new community field house for use by the school’s athletes and community members. Put very simply, there would be no field house on the RHS campus without Bill’s leadership in fund raising and every other aspect of bringing the building and its equipment to fruition.
