In 1996 the first group of athletes and coaches were inducted into the Riverside Hall of Fame. Since that beginning, the athletic division of the Hall of Fame now is home to 26 athletes and eight coaches. The history of athletics on the secondary level in this country has changed over the years and the potential for achievement has increased.

The diversity among the sports has led to winners and leaders never thought of before. Riverside is no exception to this positive change. The RHS Hall of Fame has room to recognize more of these individuals and coaches, too. However, nomination forms need to be completed before anyone can be considered for induction into the Hall of Fame.
A candidate for the athletic division of the Hall of Fame will be eligible for nomination 10 years after graduation from Riverside and if he/she was a multiple letter winner in one or more sports. A coach will be eligible for nomination after he/she has served on the Riverside Local Schools staff for at least 10 years and must have retired from coaching or left the school system. Any person who is not an athlete but has made a significant contribution(s) to the athletic program(s) of the district may also be eligible as an athletic contributor.
- A candidate must meet at least three of the following criteria:
- Placement in state competition• All-American or All-Ohio recognition
- Area all-star teams, newspaper all stars and all league selections
- School and specific sport recognition (MVP, athlete of the year, etc.)
- Athletic achievement at the college, amateur or professional level
- Coaching achievement
- Community involvement
- Successful achievement in chosen profession
- Positive role model
Riverside has a strong history where sports are concerned. Many individuals as well as teams have set records over the years. Their coaches have provided the leadership and teaching skills to send the athletes to the next level of competition. Also many of the individuals have gone on to lead successful careers as the result of the lessons learned as athletes. All are potential candidates for nomination for the RHS Hall of Fame.
Anyone may nominate an individual for the Hall of Fame. Application forms may be found here on the alumni website. Deadline for nominations is January 31 each year. Any nomination received after the deadline will be considered in the following year.
